TRICK TIPS

So you just started skating and you want to improve? Here are some tips to help you get better and master the basics of skateboarding:

OLLIE / POP-SHUVIT / FS 180 / KICKFLIP

THE OLLIE

This is the first trick most people learn. It is the trick where you get air from flatland. It takes most people ages to learn so don't worry if you struggle. Here's the steps to learning your first ollie.

1. Set your feet up in the position shown in the picture. This would be for a regular stance skater, so if you are goofy, switch it round. (if you get the hang of ollies, moving your front foot back a bit will make you go higher but you will have less control.

2. Next you have to do three movement all at once! Sounds complicated, and it is. First you have to pop the board with your back foot so that your tail touches the ground. At the same time as this you should also have jumped in the air a bit, but still with the board on your feet.

3. This is where you start dragging. Dragging levels out the board and is done with the front foot. As soon as the board has popped start dragging your front foot up towards the nose. Suck the board up as high as you can imagining you are trying to touch your chest with your knees.

I know these trick tips aren't the best, but no matter how detailed i can be, its not going to make you learn it over night. These are just guidelines.

To help you get tricks like the ollie, watch your friends do it which always helps. Watch skate videos in slow motion and stuff too.
