CUMBRIA'S FINEST SKATESPOTS >Skateboard City

Touring Cumbria? Its not as bad as you first may think...Look at the list below to view some of Cumbria's finest parks and spots: (pictures and stuff coming soon)

SKATEPARKS

CARLISLE- next to the railway line, and near the castle and Bitts park

WHITEHAVEN- near Tesco, and the railway station

WORKINGTON- Newest park in Cumbria, near the magistrate court.

If you know of any other parks or spots in Cumbria e-mail me on ginger_skater2@hotmail.co.uk

WHITEHAVEN

Whitehaven is pretty good for skating, as there is the park and loads of ledges about the place. Here are the best:

Vanilla Ledge- This is a nice high ledge which is good for tricking off and if you got skills grinding on.

Job centre area- Nice smooth pavements and car park with manny pads, grass gaps and stuff. Near by is a nice little ledge but is dead close to the road and BMXers have chipped it. Grrr.

Harbour- There is a huge 5 setter near this random statue. Nice challenge. Also there is a fairly big 4 setter with a hubba, and close to that is another smaller 4 stair set.

Whitehaven school- This place is meant to be awesome. Olly Todd got a front cover of a skate mag there!

CARLISLE

Carlisle has one of the best parks in Cumbria but is out of town a bit and quite far from the bus stop. Other spots are:

Trinity School- This place has got stuff for all levels of skating. It has heaps of stairs, gaps and ledges.

There are loads more spots but they don't stand out as much.

WORKINGTON

If you want to find someone to skate with, go down to the park and you're gauranteed to find someone. The best spots are:

Stainburn school- Pretty long 6 set of stairs, and a 3 set. Round the back are lots of ledges. Careful though cos people don't like you skating there sometimes.

Primary school- Dunno what its called but has good benches and stuff.

Job centre- Nice waxed ledge. btw Workington have their own team, check out www.eightbyfour.tk

COCKERMOUTH

This place has a great name, but has lots of spots for a small town:

Cockermouth secondary school- 4 set, 3 set, 2 set, 11 set (if you're mad, no one has done them quite yet!) big grass gap, ledges and stuff, benches. Awesome spot, but watch out for the caretaker.

St Joesephs- This place has 2 six setters! There is also a massive fence gap and a small 3 set.

Fairfield- 4 set, 3 set, big 3 set and nice smooth playground

Firestation- Nice manny pad

Flower bridge- This is a bridge with ledges and benches. Nice for grinding on.

Sainsburys- 2 nice big 3 setters, a nice motorbike rail, and a smooth area for flatland

If your gonna go to these spots, enjoy them. But make sure you are polite to anyone else, and pick up your litter. This way you will give skaters a good name, and keep these spots open to skate!
